Juvenile Diabetes

About Juvenile Diabetes

Diabetes is a biochemical disorder where the body cannot properly metabolize the sugars from food. Cells do not get enough sugar inside them, and thus metabolism is physiologically altered. In order to correct the problem, children with type-1 (insulin dependent diabetes) must inject themselves daily with insulin. Teachers and others should familiarize themselves with the requirements of diabetic students. These include the necessity for snacks and exercise, and the possibility of hypoglycermia and other medical complications arising.
